๐Ÿ† Ford Focus 1.6 Tdci Egr Valve Problems

I currently own a 2005 focus titanium 2.0 tdci 136 without DPF which has been a great car except the EGR valve issue, I had it blanked off about 30,000 miles ago and all the issues with smoking on start up, no power and fuel economy disappeared, sometimes the EML will come on so I plug I my code reader and check its related to the EGR , then Its on a 2006 fiesta 1.4 tdci. the unit is located on the left hand side (looking in) at the end of the turbo outlet hose at the inlet manifold. I'm confused because the Haynes manual states that the 1.4 tdci isn't fitted with an intake air shutoff throttle (only the 1.6). Also this unit isn't mentioned anywhere in the haynes manual event That should have easily bent a rod. It's also strange for so much to disappear if it was a high up fault such as an EGR cooler or headgasket. Seems much more likely to be a burst lower rad hose or possibly a cracked engine block. Rough running could be from false temp readings. Is it best to go for a 1.6 petrol one than keeping the tdci until problems start arising, already Ive had to replace the fuel pump which had a broken seal and now Ive noticed the water is also dripping around the same area just further below the fuel pump from a silver metal pipe junction.
